kids say the darndest things 2009.09.09

first up, logan trying to figure out what was wrong with the stickers she was given during a craft at the public library:

librarian: you have to lick it to make it stick.

logan: for real!?

ethan talking with a neighbor we ran in to while we were out for a walk in the neighborhood:

neighbor: so you’re six now? are you driving?

ethan: no.

neighbor: you going to college soon?

ethan: i know you already know the answer to these questions.

you won’t be selling either of these two a bridge…

elementary school skip day 2009.09.08

i’m glad there are parents keeping their kids home from school today because the president of the united states has chosen to address students on setting academic achievement goals.

in fact, i’d like to know what we could do to have these parents keep their kids home from school permanently. i’m certain they hate socialism and should know that the school, by virtue of being run by the government, is nothing more than a subversive democratic indoctrination center to turn their beloved children in to a raging communist homosexuals.

these folks aren’t shy in their distaste for facts, evidenced by questioning the president birthplace and evolution. so i say the school system gets 20% brighter just removing these kids from the system.

i remember while george walker bush was clowning as president these same enlightened, forward thinking “real americans” told us if we didn’t like the way the united states was being run we could pack our bags and get out. so its a promising start to see them withdrawing their kids from school, its possible by december 25th they will all be huddled together on a compound somewhere in montana preparing defenses for the war on christmas.

if i only had a brain 2009.09.04

there has been a lot of noise surrounding the health care debate but this one graph pretty much details the problem (not including all the other quality of life benefits that would come from having health care separate from employment and affordable to everyone).

cost of a longlife

if cuba, a country some here consider one of the most backwards in the world, is able to spend 1/25 what the u.s. does and achieves the same results in terms of life expectancy then i would content our health care system is at least 25 times more backwards than cuba…

first impressions 2009.09.03

ethan’s first reviews of kindergarten included:

there are a lot of rules and she is stern.

sounds a bit too familiar for my personal comfort.

stupid is as stupid does 2009.09.02

not exactly a scene from father knows best.

me: we don’t use the word stupid.

ethan: why not?

me: because you are in public school now and some adults don’t like that word.

ethan: why not?

me: i don’t know, but i’m sure they have some stupid reason and we try to respect that.

ethan’s birthday 2009.09.01
