soda springs

the first little side trip on the tramp is to soda springs. i didn't think the springs too noteworthy until a tour guide came by and if we had tasted it.

i was torn between a preference for didymo or giardia so had not indulged but the guide assured us the springs were free of both and that the spring was soda water - therefore the name - soda springs.

the guide was right on all counts, the water did taste of soda and my mate who tasted it was never afflicted with with any water born disease.
