Our first night in Siem Reap we went downtown to see the Angkor Night Market and get dinner.

We stopped at an outdoor grill near by some busy shopping stalls.

After ordering, we noticed a dolled-up Asian tourist bartering for a woven bag with a shopkeeper across the alley from us. Ultimately the tourist walked off and when she turned away the shopkeeper made some disparaging faces and gestures. I laughed and turned to the kids when I noticed all the staff in the restaurant were sitting at a table next to us folding napkins watching us watch what just happened.

They immediately started to heckle the shopkeeper making it clear we had seen everything. This made the exchange even more entertaining but brought way more attention to our table than Logan was happy about.

If that weren't bad enough, I ordered the most interesting thing I saw on the menu, a platter of grilled crocodile with chilies. The platter was smoking when they brought it out. The burning chilies caused everyone around, including the shopkeeper across the alley, to start coughing and brought even more attention to us.

There were a number of memorable meals in Cambodia but this one was my favorite.
