Fort Rodd Hill is only a few miles away from where we are staying and features access to Fisgard Lighthouse so the National Historic Site was our planned activity for the day.

The fort was your standard fort, walls, gun batteries, and munition bunkers, etc... etc...

The lighthouse was also fairly standard but has the distinction of being the first permanent lighthouse on the Pacific Coast of Canada, erected in 1859 - 1860.

And no trip to the coast is complete without visiting a lighthouse, so check that.
