When I left the Pacific Northwest so many years ago, I remember telling everyone the thing I missed most was anytime you got to a clearing, there would be a view in one direction or another.

Where we live now, there aren't vistas anywhere, just trees and more trees.

Mount Douglas Park starts at the sea, wanders through dark forests and ends at this peak where you can enjoy a near 360 degree view around Vancouver Island.

That's what I miss most.
