Canada Day seems at lot like the 4th of July in the U.S. - its a National Holiday, there are fairs everywhere, fireworks, its even in the same month.

But instead of celebrating a break up, Canada day celebrates the unification of three separate colonies, the Province of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into the Dominion of Canada.
