A couple of days after visiting Xingping we took a cruise on the Li River and passed the iconic landmark that is on the back of the Chinese 20 Yuan again.

We took a local cruise which means we were the only Westerners on the boat and no one spoke English.

Lunch was provided but an hour in to the trip they had an a la carte snack available for purchase. Two Chinese ladies sitting at our table got a seafood platter with a variety of fried fish and a cup full of snails. It wasn't the first time we'd seen snails, or even the first time we'd been offered them by friendly diners, but this time I accepted the offer and gave them a try. Turns out, snails are quite good.

Shortly after lunch, they wheeled out a cart full of perfume and traditional clothing and the boat turned in to an episode of Home Shopping Network China. It seemed very, very capitalistic to me and had it been in English would probably have driven me crazy. But, I couldn't understand a word and it was curious to watch it wasn't as awful as it could have been.
