A typical visit to Huanghuacheng starts at the Visitor Center up and behind the Hill on the other side of the bridge seen below. From the Visitor Center you follow the Great Wall about a half mile and wrap up the tour with a relaxing paddle boat ride on the lake.

But our family doesn't feel like its stretched its legs from the car until we've walked at least 5+ miles. So we found a way up this side of the mountain and are looking back down the at the Guard Houses we passed along our way.

Our guide clearly wasn't used to this much walking but was a good sport about it. We didn't know how badly we abused him until the next day when he showed up with bandages on his heels because he had blisters on both feet.
