We arrived in Vietnam a week before Tet, the New Year celebration in Vietnam.

On the down side, the holiday created two difficulties for us in walking around 1) the market, which was in our path to everywhere else, was packed with additional vendors and shoppers buying food and decorations for the holiday and 2) large pots of yellow flowers and mandarin trees filled the sidewalks and side of the road forcing us in to the street with the constant stream of scooter traffic.

On the plus side, the flowers created seas of orange and red on every road. It was amazing to see two or three large pots miraculously attached to a scooter out for delivery. Our host had one large pot installed on our back deck and two small pots on our front step. She said the plants were intended to bring us good fortune in the New Year.
