Curiously, this beach is just south of My Khe beach (aka "China Beach") where 3,500 US Marines landed in Vietnam at 9.03am on 8 March 1965 beginning US involvement in the war in Vietnam.

A short distance to the South, and visible from the highway, are a few abandoned concrete and steel "Wonderarch" aircraft shelters from the US Marble Mountain Air Facility. We found out later this was a primary storage facility for Agent Orange in Vietnam.
