We just watched the PBS documentary The Chinese Exclusion Act and when considered against the treatment of other minorities in American history its kind of hard to deny white, European racist tendencies.

At Hang Mua we had the opposite experience, everyone was completely friendly and welcoming to us. In fact, it was hard to climb the steps as we kept stopping to pose for pictures with friendly Vietnamese.
